Evaluation Prior to Exodontia
- Medical assessment
- patients will carry on with meds as normal
- you have to figure out how to stop the bleeding
- pack and prescribe a TCA mouthwash if needed
Meds and Exos
Prolia Methotrexate blood thinners
- access to tooth
- impacted teeth, you’ll have to do a surgical exo
- mobility of tooth
- Perio teeth are mobile but they’re very inflammed and bleed a lot making the exo difficult
- Most of the time you’ll find that the bleeding is not from the socket
- rather its from the soft tissue

- condition of crown
- If the crown is heavily restored then you have to be prepared for a surgical extraction
- when you put forceps on a sus crown try to get them as close as possible to the root so you’re less likely to fracture it
- radiographic examination to assess relationship to sstructures, configuration of roots, condition of surrounding bone
