| | | |---| |DENT5310 Oral Surgery Examination Hi DMD3s, I have had questions come to me regarding the format of the upcoming Oral Surgery examination. Some of these questions have asked for specifics and I am not prepared to go into any more detail than the below. A new examination has been written for this year. It is in the format of a 2 hour short answer question paper. Whilst it has been based around cases for structure, it is assessing you across the learning outcomes as they pertain to Oral Surgery from the DENT5310 course handbook: (10) examine patients clinically to diagnose oral and dental conditions requiring surgical management, and apply the principles and biological rationale of oral surgical treatment in the clinical management of patients; (11) explain the clinical aspects and the management of oro-facial infections; (12) explain the indications, contraindication, techniques, side effects and complications of sedation and general anaesthesia in dentistry; (13) perform tooth extractions and minor dento-alveolar surgical procedures, and explain the management of post-extraction complications. The above learning outcomes have been covered across the range of lectures/workshops/clinical sessions delivered to you by different staff. Good luck with your revision and best of luck for the examination, Dr Hague| |
