Case 2: Gingival Recession and Abnormal Lucencies

Patient Presentation[^9]

  • Chief Complaint: Gingival recession

Radiographic Findings

Identify and describe the abnormal lucencies present in the image:

  • List at least three distinct radiographic features.
    • Not completely radio opaque
    • Most likely Cemento osseous displaysia
    • radiographic bone loss
    • Calculus on enamel surfaces

Diagnostic Considerations

  • Provide a differential diagnosis (ddx).
    • Periapical granuloma
    • Cemento osseous dysplasia ( still differential because it has be to be confirmed)
  • Determine if further imaging is necessary.
    • another PA should be taken after 2 year to see if the COD lesion has matured or is still active
    • when it matures it looks more radiolucent
