Standard Calculation Formula

To determine the maximum volume of local anaesthetic (LA) that can be safely administered, use the following formula:

• (Maximum allowable dose in mg/kg × Patient weight in kg) / (10 × Concentration of LA in %)

Patient and Drug Parameters:

• Patient Weight: 25 kg
• Local Anaesthetic: Lignospan Special (2% Lignocaine with 1:80,000 Adrenaline)
• Maximum Safe Dose: 7 mg/kg

Step-by-Step Calculation:

• 7 mg/kg × 25 kg / 10 × 1/2
• Result: 8.75 ml maximum allowable volume
