Crown prep

  • Was very easy EXCEPT for the palatal
  • I need to come up with easier ways to see and prep the palatal side, althoguh I was better at using indirect vision here
  • One thing I struggled with is overtapering the proximal and palatal, which made the ferrule absolutely tiny
    • you have to keep it as paralle las possible, fuck it even an undercut, doesn’t really matter, because once you build up the core impression you’ll be able to reduce again!

Post-space impression and core build up

  • Used a brown sized temporary post which was good
  • used a lot of material on the post itself except for the bottom 3mm just like last time and it seemed to have gone wlel
  • made a way deeper and shorter antirotational groove (i.e. max 3 mm long and 0.8 -1 mm deep)
    • used the red polishing bur and worked like a charm
  • post space impression was good
  • Core build up was decent too but one thing I struggled with is filling up the palatal “space”
  • so the core was tapered while the palatal wall wasn’t, tricking me into thinking I couldn’t add more to have the right amount of reduction! Need to be careful of that
    • what helped was just holding a probe along the existing tooth structure then visualizing filling in the rest!
  • Overall went pretty well today, utilized techniques from Excerise 3 Direct-Indirect 21 and they all helped quite a lot
