  1. a. Right posterior mandibular PA (of 46-47 region) b. 3 anatomical structures or landmarks

    • Right mandibular canal
    • Inferior border of the right mandible
    • Developing follicle of Tooth 48
  2. a. Anterior maxillary PA (of 11-21 region) b. 3 anatomical structures or landmarks

    • Same as the sample xray (intermaxillary suture is not as obvious, however)
  3. a. Left bitewing b. 3 anatomical structures or landmarks

    • Lamina dura of teeth
    • PDL spaces of teeth
    • Trabecular bone and alveolar crest

Mandibular Radiographic Landmarks

  1. a. Mandibular anterior PA (or 32-42 region) b. 3 anatomical structures or landmarks

    • Nutrient canal/s (41-42 site is most evident)
    • Lamina dura of teeth
    • PDL spaces
  2. a. Left posterior maxillary PA (of 24-26 region) b. 3 anatomical structures or landmarks

    • Left maxillary sinus (and the floor) – not the prominent alveolar recess at the edentulous 26 site.
    • Lamina dura of teeth
    • PDL spaces

Task 2 Answers

  1. Maxillary denture in situ (ceramic teeth – not commonly used anymore)
  2. Maxillary space maintainer in situ (orthodontic device)
  3. Maxillary denture in situ (metal mesh covering the premaxilla)
  4. Three left maxillary implants in situ
