O1A Pain Control during retreatment
- Explain how to administer the Gow-Gates block (i.e. steps, what does it anesthetize)
- Explain the process for getting pain control on acute irreversible pulpitis in a lower molar tooth
O6B Discoloured Teeth
what are the steps of the bleaching process
- Assess the Pulp/Root Canal and Periapical status
- Remove the root canal filling to below the CEJ
- Put Cavit as the base over the RC and allow to set for 1 week
- Rubber dam and access cavity
- Acid etch, wash and dry
- Place a thick paste of H2o2 Na perorate
- Temporary filling iwth cavit
- Review after 1 week
- Repeat if necessary
- Restore access cavity
- REview in 6 months then a few years
O7A Conservative Pulp
What are the six Main factors to consider in cases : when attempting conservative pulp treatment
- Diagnosis of pulp status
- Depending on how long the patient waited until tx, there may be some pulpitis
- stage of root development
- always wait for pulp revascularization and further root development
- Other concurrent injuries
- Size of exposure
- Time of exposure
- Restorative Dental Needs
What are the options for conservative pulp treatment
- pulp capping
- direct/indirect
- Pulpotomy
- partial (CVEK)
- Cervial
- Pulpectomy
Outline the CVEK pulpotomy Technique
. ==Pulp Amputation: Use a high-speed diamond bur with copious water spray to create an abrasive wound. A diamond bur minimizes collateral tissue damage compared to a carbide bur, which tends to tear the pulp. The pulp is removed to a depth of approximately 2 mm. 2. Hemostasis (Bleeding Control): Place a cotton pellet moistened with sterile saline over the amputated pulp with gentle pressure for several minutes. 3. Assessment: If bleeding stops, it indicates that the remaining pulp tissue is healthy. If bleeding persists, the tissue is still inflamed, and a little more pulp must be removed until hemostasis is achieved. 4. Pulp Capping: Once bleeding is controlled, the chosen capping material is placed over the pulp stump. 5. Restoration: A base of glass ionomer is typically placed over the capping agent, followed by a final composite resin restoration.==
